6,7,8 Grade ELA upcoming assignments: Summer reading is due Monday, Sept. 8
Students should be selecting their independent book for September. This project is due on Thursday, October 3rd. Please see the link of the schedule for independent book projects for the year.

Students in all grades were given a project that is due this week. Please see Google classroom.

Students will have a spelling test on the vocabulary words for unit 1 in their vocabulary books.

On Monday- Tuesday- Students will take their English Language Arts Benchmarks.

6th Grade ELA: Students will read an excerpt by James Herriot- “Market Square Dog.” We will begin to study nouns and capitalization this week. If time permits we will read and discuss the poem “A True Friendship.”

7th Grade ELA: The seventh grade will read the short story, “Seventh Grade” by Gary Soto. We will review nouns and capitalization. If time permits, we will read and discuss the poem, “Oranges” by Gary Soto.

8th Grade ELA: The students in eighth grade will begin a unit on Civil War literature. We will begin by reading an excerpt by Frederick Douglass and an essay about Harriet Tubman. If time permits, we will read “Slave Mother” and discuss the poet’s meaning and use of literary elements.

7th Grade Religion Class:
We have begun Unit 1 which answers the question- “Who is God?” There will be a memory test on Thursday. Students will receive the schedule for it and it will be posted on classroom.
