This past week, we explored changing matter through heating and cooling. We compared raw to frozen vegetables – The raw pepper was flexible, but the frozen pepper snapped in half! Then we attempted to undo the changes done by freezing. We found that by adding heat, we could make the frozen pepper flexible again! It was interesting to watch crayon melt into liquid wax, then cool and harden to be colored with again. But the most memorable moment was when the chocolate came out – the students were greatly anticipating a chocolatey treat…..but it was bittersweet dark chocolate!
