Welcome back to a new school year! Here you will find the latest news from the various classes and subjects that I teach. I will be posting test and quiz dates, links to review packets, and the topics that each class is studying.

Sixth Social Studies

This week sixth grade is starting at the very beginning with learning about how and why we study history and geography. The students will be completing an in-class project creating a historical “artifact” about themselves.

Sixth Religion

This week we will begin by learning about the Bible in general. The very first memory quiz will be next Thursday, September 12th. You may view the first trimester quiz schedule here.

Seventh Social Studies

In seventh grade, we are starting off by learning about the earliest cultures that developed in the Americas, as well as other cultures and historical events that influenced the United States. We will actually be jumping from the Native Americans to learning about trade routes in Asia and Africa to The Italian Renaissance and Reformation. Believe it or not, all of these tie in with American history. The students will be doing an activity in class where we will study the Mayan calendar, and will be challenged to create their own symbol.

Eighth Social Studies

Last year, we ended with learning about industrialization and the spread of slavery. We are starting this year with the events that sparked the Civil War. Throughout this unit, we will be referencing the classic Ken Burns mini series, The Civil War.

Eighth Religion

In eighth grade religion, we will start at the very beginning: Genesis 1:1. We will mostly focus on the significance of the order of creation, and how God had a plan for salvation when Adam and Eve fell into sin. The first memory quiz will be next Thursday, September 12th. You may view the first trimester memory quiz schedule here.
