Welcome back to a new week! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. After two short weeks in a row, we are now back into our regular schedule. Here are the plans for this week:

Seventh Social Studies

This week we are starting chapter 4, which goes into what life was like in the Colonies- both good and bad. In addition to studying government influences education, and culture, we will also get into the spread of slavery in America and the gruesome reality of what the slave trade was like. The National Museum of African American History and Culture  has several artifacts on their website that will help illustrate this unfortunate era of history. The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation also has some great resources available on their website.

Eighth Grade Social Studies

In eighth grade, we will also be focusing on culture, specifically the growth of cities and immigration during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. NASA published a satellite image that shows how much cities are growing today.

Eighth Grade Religion

This week we will be studying the last days of the Israelites wandering in the wilderness. We will study the last advice Moses gave the people before he died, and then we will study how God used an unlikely woman to protect his people: Rahab. Did you know that Rahab was one of Jesus’ ancestors? This lesson will illustrate how God’s plan is truly perfect. The memory verse for this week is Galatians 3:13, which is on page 35 in the student book. The quiz will be on Thursday.
