Welcome back for a new week at Trinity! It was so good to meet with all of you last week at Parent-Teacher Conferences. I am honored to be a partner in your child’s education. That being said, here are the plans for this week.

6th Social Studies

This week we are reviewing chapter 4: Ancient Egypt and Kush. The chapter test is this Friday, 11/22. You may view the study guide here.

6th Religion

This week we are finishing up Unit 1 in our book, with a lesson on Job. While the book of Job is placed later on in the Bible, it was actually written around the same time as Genesis. We will review unit 1 at the end of this week, and the test will be next Tuesday, November 26th. The memory verse for this week is Jeremiah 29:11, which is on page 27 in the student book.

7th Social Studies

Seventh grade is currently reviewing chapter 3, The 13 English Colonies, and the test will be on Wednesday, 11/20. The next chapter will get into life in the colonies, beginning with how they were governed. So, before we get into the new chapter, the students will be challenged to create rules and a government structure for their own imaginary colony.

8th Social Studies

This week we are continuing to learn about life at the turn of the 20th century. We will study the formation of labor unions, urbanization, immigration, and changes in education. Instead of a traditional chapter test, the students will be doing a document based question/thematic essay on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

8th Religion

This week we are continuing to study the Israelites moving toward the Promised Land. The students will be learning about the twelve spies sent to report back on Canaan, as well as the rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Both topics show that no matter the circumstances, we should never doubt God’s plans, but trust that He has our best interests at heart. The memory verse for this week is Galatians 3:13, on page 35 in the student book.
