Happy Memorial Day to all. This week we are tying up loose ends before we begin to review for final exams.

7th Social Studies

This week we are completing research assignments based on the writing of the Star Spangles Banner, as well as researching the actions of the presidents following James Monroe. The students are determining if these men should be considered heroes or villains of history. Beginning on Wednesday, we will begin reviewing for the final exam. The students will be given a packet with all of the items to study, but we will work through the packet a little each day. It should not be completed all at once.

8th Social Studies

This week we are reviewing for the last chapter test before the final. The students will take their test on Chapter 24, World War II on Thursday, May 31st. Extra help will be available that morning before school. To close out our study of World War II, Mrs. Saitta and I will be taking the students to the Holocaust Museum and Memorial in Glen Cove. We will even get to hear from a Holocaust survivor.

8th Religion

This week we are finishing up our last few lessons before beginning finals review. We are looking at how the Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled in the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Christ. The memory verse for this week reflects this theme: Luke 2:11, which is on page 107 of the student book.
