Happy New Year! This week we are focusing on tying up loose ends before we start reviewing for midterm exams.

7th Social Studies

This week in seventh grade, we are studying the early battles of the American Revolution, including Bunker Hill, which we visited on our trip to Boston. The students will then begin reviewing chapter 5. Instead pf having a separate chapter test, the material from chapter 5 will be included on the midterm exam. The review packets will be handed out on Thursday, January 10th.

8th Social Studies

In eighth grade, we are currently looking at how the U.S. became involved with nations overseas. We will also study how the media can influence government policy and even wars, when we study the Spanish American War and the construction of the Panama Canal. The student will be reviewing chapter 20 at the end of this week, which will be included on the midterm exam.

8th Religion

This week we are studying the Book of Judges, and the individuals that God chose to lead His people, including Gideon and Samson. There is no religion midterm, so we will carry on as usual. The memory verse for this week is Isaiah 48:17, which can be found on page 61 in the workbook. The quiz will be on Thursday.
