Can you believe January is almost over? Now that Midterms are over, we are back to a normal routine. Here is the news for this week.

7th Grade Social Studies

In seventh grade social studies, we are in the midst of the American Revolution. We will be studying what was happening in Philadelphia with the Continental Congress, such as the drafting of the Declaration of Independence, as well as the action on the battle field. There will not be any tests or quizzes this week.

8th Grade Social Studies

In eighth grade social studies, we have made it to World War I, which many have been anticipating for several months. We are not only looking at the battles and politics surrounding the war, but also the people involved in the war. The students will be viewing a video about the Harlem Hell Fighters of World War I, which gives a chilling perspective on how African American soldiers were viewed and treated. You may view this video here. There are no tests or quizzes this week.

8th Grade Religion

In eighth grade religion, we are now beginning the era of the Kings of Israel. This week we will study Saul, the first King of Israel. His reign was only two years, but there are many lessons to be learned from his actions. The memory verse for this week is 1 Samuel 16:7, which is on page 67 in the student book.
