Happy February, everyone! After midterms and Lutheran Schools Week, we are back to a regular routine this week. Here are the updates for the week ahead.

6th Social Studies

This is a bit of a transition week for sixth grade as they finish China, and begin Ancient Greece. The students will present their group research projects on technology and culture from the Han dynasty on Tuesday. The topics, such as the seismograph, will tie in to what they have been studying in both social studies and science. On Wednesday, we will be getting into the early Greek civilizations and geography. We will end the week by learning about Athenian democracy and philosophy. There will be a test on chapter 7, Ancient Greece, on Friday, February 14th.

6th Religion

In Religion, we will be finishing up unit 2 this week by reading about Deborah and Sampson. They will work on the unit review on Thursday, and the test will be on Tuesday, February 11th.

7th Social Studies

This week we are fulling immersed in the American Revolution. The students will start the week by researching some of the lesser known signers of the Declaration of Independence, then we will work our way through the major battles. We will focus on the Middle States and the battles in the west this week.

8th Social Studies

On Monday, the students will present their group research projects and activities on World War I. Then, we will get into the war effort on the home front and discuss whether or not the U.S. government has the right to spy on citizens.Thursday and Friday we will get into the short, but impactful American involvement in the war, and then the Treaty of Versailles. There will be a test on Chapter 21, World War I, next Friday, February 14th.

8th Religion

This week we will study the book of Ruth, and the many lessons to be learned from her story, and then we will begin studying the ministry of Samuel, starting with his childhood serving in the temple. On Friday, the students will receive the outline for their second trimester project, Calling All Workers. They will select a career they are interested in, the training required, job responsibilities, and how they can serve God in that profession.
