Happy early Valentines Day to all! This week we have much to accomplish in all the classes, so we can tie up loose ends before the break.

6th Social Studies

This week we will be learning about the origin of democracy in Athens. On Friday, February 14th, the students will have a quiz on the first two sections of Chapter 8, Ancient Greece. They will be quizzed on the geography of Greece, the Minoan and Mycenaean civilizations, and Athenian democracy. They will complete a review in class to prepare for the quiz.

6th Religion

The students will be taking their test on Unit 2 on Tuesday, February 11th. This will cover the Exodus from Egypt through the time of the Judges. You may view the review here.

7th Social Studies

In seventh grade, we will be studying the Revolutionary War battles in the west, as well as the battles in the south, and ultimately the American victory over Britain. The students will take their test on chapter 6, the American Revolution, on Friday, February 14th. You may view the study guide here.

8th Social Studies

This week we are wrapping up our study of World War I. We will go over the few battles in which American soldiers participated, and the the ineffectiveness of the Treaty of Versailles. The test on Chapter 21, World War I, will be Friday, February 14th. You may view the study guide here.

8th Religion

On Friday, the students were given the outline and rubric for their second trimester project, which you may view here. It is due On Monday, February 24th. In class, the students are working on writing trivia questions based on the calling of Samuel, and then we will fast forward through his life to when he anoints Saul as the first king.
