We have finished up our beginning of the year benchmarks and have started our first unit on the Number System. Last week we explored integers, opposites, ordering integers, and absolute value. This week, we will be exploring how to classify, order, and compare rational numbers. At the end of the week, the students will be working together on a rational number lab activity.
We have finished up our beginning of the year benchmarks and we have been working on our first unit Integers and Rational Numbers. Last week we reviewed how to add and subtract positive and negative numbers. Please make sure that your child has memorized these rules. We will be having a quiz on Addition and Subtraction integer application on Wednesday, 9/18. At the end of the week, the students will be working on an Integer Timeline project. This project will be completed in class. The expectations for this project will be posted on the Goggle classroom. Pictures needed for this project must be brought to school by Thursday, September 19th.
Last week we began our first unit on Rational and Irrational Numbers. Students began to explore square roots and how to order and simplify them. This week we will be covering how to simplify non-perfect square radicals and how to solve equations with perfect square and cubed roots. There will be a quiz on the above topics on Friday, 9/20.
Last week we started Chapter 2. We reviewed how to solve 2 step and multi-step equations. Then we explored equations with variables on both sides, consecutive integers problems and how to solve literal equations. We will begin this week by reviewing this chapter. Students will receive review sheets and the first chapter test will be on Wednesday, 9/18. The best way to study is to review your notes and packets. There are also additional practice problems in the textbook, Chapter 2 and the answers can be found in the back of the book.
Reminders: Back to School Night for our parents is on Tuesday, September 17th at 7;00 PM. I look forward to seeing you there.
