Math 6

This week we are continuing with our Number System Unit.  Thus far, we have explored integers and rational numbers.  We covered their opposites, ordering them, and absolute value.  This week we will be reviewing for our quiz on rational numbers, which will be on Tuesday, 9/24.  Following the quiz we will begin our review of Unit 1.  The test for this unit will be on Friday, 9/27.

Math 7

We have been working on our first unit Integers and Rational Numbers. Thus far, we reviewed how to add and subtract positive and negative numbers.  Please make sure that your child has memorized these rules.  The students have also been working on their Integer Timeline projects.  They are coming out great.  This week our focus will be on reviewing how to multiply and divide integers, as well as real life application of these skills. There will be a quiz on Module 2, which covers multiplication and division of integers on Thursday, 9/26.

Pre-Algebra

We are finishing up our first unit on Rational and Irrational Numbers.  Students have explored square roots and how to order and simplify them, simplifying non-perfect square radicals and how to solve equations with perfect square and cubed roots.  Our first unit test will be on Tuesday, 9/24.  Students should use the review sheet given to them in class to study.  Later in the week we will begin our next unit which covers exponents and scientific notation.

Algebra

This week we are beginning Chapter 3, which covers Inequalities.  Students will learn how to solve and graph one step, two step, multi-step and compound inequalities.  We will also be exploring how to solve absolute value equations and inequalities.  There will be a quiz on solving 1 step, 2 step, and multi-step inequalities on Wednesday, 9/25.
