Math 6

This week we are finishing up a very short chapter on ratios and proportions.  Students have learned how to write a ratio, solve unit rate problems, and how to covert within different measurement systems.  Our test on this chapter will be on Thursday, 2/27.   Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

 

Math 7

This week we are continuing our unit on 2-D Geometry.  Thus far we have finished up our scale drawing projects, as well as exploring angle relationships involving complementary and supplementary angles.  We also learned how to calculate circumference and area of circles. We also explored areas of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, and trapezoids.  We also explored area of composite figures and finding the area of shaded figures.  The unit test on 2-D geometry will be on Thursday, 2/28. Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

 

Pre-Algebra

We are starting a new chapter on 2-D geometry.  This week our focus will be on translations, rotations, and reflections of various shapes.  We will have a quiz on the above mentioned topics on Friday, 2/28.  Students are also working on a symmetry project in class.    Extra help is Mondays at 7:30 AM.

 

Algebra

This week we are starting chapter 8.  Thus far we have been adding, subtracting, multiplying and factoring polynomials.  We will also explored how use the box method, distributing, and the FOIL method to multiply binomials.  This week our focus will be on factoring quadratics and factoring by grouping.  There are not any quizzes or tests this week. Extra help is by appointment.
