Math 6

We are finishing up with our unit on percents.  We have explored how to convert percents to fraction, fractions to percents, percents to decimals and decimals to percents.  We also applied these skills to application problems.  This week we will focus on reviewing for the test, which will be on Wednesday, 12/18.  Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Math 7

This week we will continue with our unit on solving equations and inequalities.  Thus far we have reviewed how to combine like terms and use the distributive property.  We also explored how to solve 1 step, 2 step, and multi-step equations.  This week our focus will be on solving 1 and 2 step inequalities.  Our unit test will be on Thursday, 12/19.    Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Pre-Algebra

We are still working with linear equations.  So far we learned how to graph equations using a table and x and y intercepts, vertical, and horizontal lines and how to calculate slope and  graphing a line using slope intercept form (y =mx + b).  This week our focus will be on writing an equation of a line given two points.  We will also explore parallel and perpendicular lines.  There will be a quiz on these two topics on Thursday, 12/19.  Extra help is Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Algebra

This week we will begin our next chapter on exponential functions, which is chapter 7 in the textbook.  We will begin by exploring rules for exponents.  This includes the following:  products of exponents with like bases, quotient exponents of like bases, power to a power, product and quotient to a power, zero exponents, and negative exponents.    Extra help is by appointment.
