Math 6

After Christmas break we will begin our unit on statistics.  We will be exploring measures of center (mean, median, mode), quartiles, and how to construct a box and whisker plot. Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Math 7

After Christmas break we will start review for midterms, which will begin the week of January 20th.  A schedule will be sent home after the break.  Please make sure that your child has purchased their Buckle Down workbook from the school store as this is what we will be using to review.  This was purchased by most students in September.  We will begin the review with rational numbers and how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them.  We will then review ratios, proportional relationships and their graphs, calculating tax, tip, and percent of increase and decrease.  Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Pre-Algebra

We are finishing up our work with linear equations.  So far we learned how to graph equations using a table and x and y intercepts, vertical, and horizontal lines and how to calculate slope and  graphing a line using slope intercept form (y =mx + b).  We also learned how to write an equation of a line given two points.  After the break, we will review this chapter and have a unit test on Wednesday,January 8th.   Extra help is Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Algebra

After the break, we will begin to review for our midterms.  We will be using the Barron’s review book that was purchased in the beginning of the year for this review.  We will begin with solving linear equations, graphing equations, solving inequalities, and solving systems of equations. The midterm schedule will be sent home after the break.  Midterms will be during the week of January 20th.   Extra help is by appointment.
