Hello Parents,

We are on our way to the third week of school and I am so proud of your children! They are learning the routine and are getting more comfortable with each other.

This week our theme is learning together. This week’s scholastic reader is based on counting apples. Academically, we have begun the unit, ready for school. We will be learning about the letter Cc, rectangle, the color green and the number three. Mathematically, we will begin to understand the concept of longer, shorter and taller using snap cubes. We will be reading several books including: Apple a Day, The Pledge of Allegiance, My Friends and various books on apples. Last week we looked at the inside of an apple and sampled some apple slices. This week we will be planting the seeds that we collected from our apples to do an experiment to see if we can grow our own apple tree.

For Jesus time, we will continue to sing the songs: Jesus loves me, the B-I-B-L-E and My God is so Great. We are continuing to explore the theme, God created the world for us.

Homework packets will be coming home on Monday and are due back on Friday.

Our school nurse, Nurse Angela is coming to visit us this week to talk about staying healthy. We are back at the small playground until the maintenance is completed at our big playground across the street.

We will begin talking about the seasons and the first day of fall which is on Monday, September 23rd.

The “About Me” class book will begin to be circulated, every child will have a turn to bring the binder home to learn about their friends. If you haven’t done so, please send in your child’s “about me” story and their picture to be included.

Please send in permission slips and money (just for the adult staying with your child) ASAP.
