Hello Parents,

This week is Election Week and the children will be voting on their favorite snack on Tuesday, the winning snack will be served to the class.

We are beginning a new theme entitled, “Our Community”. The first unit is called, Places We Go.  We will be discussing how children learn about the role of the community in their lives and the importance of good citizenship.The vocabulary for this unit includes: apartments, block, building, community, firehouse, hospital, library and neighborhood.

We will be learning about the letter Ii, hexagon, the color pink and the number nine. Mathematically, we will introduce using simple maps and position words and comparing distances. Practice: Counts Objects, Sorts and Describes Objects. We will be reading the following books: Lola at the Library, Knuffle Bunny and A Good Night Walk.

For Jesus time, we are going to talk about Joshua and Jericho. We will continue to sing the songs: Jesus loves me, the B-I-B-L-E and My God is so Great and we will be begin practicing the song You can’t keep Jesus Love in a Box. We will be going to chapel on Wednesday.

Homework packets will be coming home on Monday and are due back on Friday. Please send in any communications, money, etc. INSIDE your child’s folder inside of placing it loosely in their backpacks.

Pizza envelopes will be sent home on Monday and are due back Wednesday.

Please dress your child with clothing appropriate for the weather, we will be going out twice a day unless it is raining or the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Also for safety reasons, please have your child wear sneakers.

Please remove any papers that come home in your child’s folder daily, some are time sensitive.
