Hello Parents,

I hope everyone had a happy and healthy Christmas break and New Year!

We are picking up with our curriculum. We will begin a new theme called, Awesome Animals. The first unit is entitled, All Kinds of Animals. BIG Idea: “I live in a world full of animals.” Knowledge Focus: Children learn about life science through the exploration of animals and animal life cycles. Vocabulary: animal, climb, feathers, fly, fur, scales, shell, slither and swim. For math, we will be introducing: ordering objects and compares lengths. We will review: counting to 10. We will be talking about hibernation as well as learning about animals, living vs. nonliving things, etc.

This week we will be reviewing letters A-L, numbers 1-10, and all the shapes that we have learned. We will be learning the letter Mm this week and the number 13. I am also beginning to step up the independence in an effort to prepare the children for kindergarten. I have changed around their cubbies in order to reinforce their knowledge of their names and in addition, I will be having the children actually sign in on a sheet each morning.

We will be reading various books such as Biggest, Strongest, Fastest, Is Your Mama a Llama, Roar! A Noisy Counting Book and Dot the Fire Dog.

We will also be going to chapel this week.

Please send in any communications, money, etc. INSIDE your child’s folder inside of placing it loosely in their backpacks.

Pizza envelopes will be sent home on Monday this week and are due back Wednesday/Thursday morning the latest.

Please dress your child with clothing appropriate for the weather, we will be going out twice a day unless it is raining or the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Also for safety reasons, please have your child wear sneakers.

Please remove any papers that come home in your child’s folder daily, some are time sensitive.
