Christ is Risen!  He is Risen indeed!  Alleluia!

JESUS’ TIME:  We are celebrating the Risen Christ as He appeared to His disciples and even now appears to us. We accept the wonder of the Resurrection as the basis of our salvation.  And with Peter, James, and John, we are telling this good news to everyone we meet.

MATH:  Moving right along we are continuing our work with the numbers 11 – 20;  practicing our patterns; and our positional words.

SCIENCE:  New life is springing all around us.  We have been working with plants  and using roots, stems, leaves, and flowers we are creating our own plants.  Learning about all types of flowers both in science and art continue to develop the awesome of the world in our hearts.                                                                                                                                                                            Animal life is also blooming!  Our caterpillars have grown from a 1/4 inch at the beginning of our study to 1 inch and their cocoons are beginning to form.                                                                                                                                                                 Learning about the insect world is challenging as we realize they are not spiders.

LITERACY:  All our science and math have been tied to literacy.  Using our weekly readers on the butterfly, flowers, and ladybugs have increased our desire to read and attach meaning to the printed word.  The author, Eric Carle, holds a special place in our hearts for his books on insects, ie. THE VERY HUNGRY CATERPILLAR, THE GROUCHY LADYBUG, THE VERY LONELY FIREFLY, etc.

ART:  Our theme for this season is “We are God’s Garden”.  Both with Mrs. Kerwin and in class using an abundance of media, we are exploring the world of plants and flowers.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  Our desire to move has resulted in studying different types of transportation.  They have included everything from trucks, trains, to roller skates and bicycles.

MUSIC:  The Train Game and “All God’s Critters” continue the themes of moving and new life.

EVENTS:  The Waterfront Center – “From Seashells to Sea Creatures” were in school this week to open the themes of water, sea life, summer, and moving on.
