READING – Lesson 25 asks the essential question, “How do people get food from plants?” To help us answer the question we will read, Bread Comes to Life, Pie in the Sky, and From Apple Tree to Store. We are reviewing this week for our Unit 5 test which will be given Thursday, 6/7. An information sheet was sent home today explaining how to help your child review. The high frequency words from this unit are: over, her, when, some, away, must, by, there, make, play, said, good, them, give, say, new, was, then, ate, could, she, all, he, and no. The sounds we are blending include, short and long “e” and “o” and “x,” “j,” “h,” and “k.” The students will identify sentences that are exclamations, questions and statements.

MATH –  The students will continue exploring three – dimensional shapes, which include, cubes, cones, spheres, and cylinders. They will learn to describe each shape using the vocabulary words, flat surface, curved surface and how many of each a shape contains.

RELIGION – Our Bible story is Paul and the shipwreck.

SCIENCE – Last week we planted Zinnia seeds and we are observing and recording the growth of our seeds.

HANDWRITING – The class will print capital and lower case “V-v” and “Y-y.”

SOCIAL STUDIES – Our topic of discussion is summer safety.
