READING – Our essential question this week is, “What steps can someone follow to plant and grow flowers?” We will read, Zinnia’s Flower Garden, and Growing Sunflowers to help us answer the question, and also read Oscar and the Frog to help us learn about the growth of a tadpole. Our high frequency words are: she, all, over, when, her, some, and we will focus on the long and short “e” sound as we blend sounds to read words. We will continue to read in our Readers to practice fluency using the stories My Pet Dog and Ben and Jen. Readers will be sent home for you to use to help your child practice. In grammar the students will learn to capitalize proper nouns for the names of the months and days of the week.

MATH –   Due to time constraints, our next chapter in Math will be Chapter 12, Classifying and Sorting Data. This week the students will  classify and count by color and shape.  A note will be sent home as to the material to study for the cumulative Math test. Your child’s Practice book will be sent home daily to use to study and for continued HOMEWORK. Please return the book daily.

RELIGION –  We will complete our discussion about Jesus’ return to heaven and focus on Pentecost next.

SCIENCE – We will plant seeds and grow our own flowers to enrich our flower growth experience.

HANDWRITING – Our next letters will be, “S-s” and “B-b.”
