READING –  Our essential question is, “What do scientists do when they discover something new?” We will read the stories, Duck and Goose, Curious George’s Dinosaur Discovery, and Exploring Land and Water to help us answer the question. We will also be preparing for our Unit 4 test by reviewing all of our high frequency words, blending sounds learned thus far to read new words, writing opinion sentences, using verbs in the past, present and future tenses, discussing the sequence of events in stories, and reading, The Big Dig, and We Fit, in our Readers. A study sheet was sent home on Monday to help you prepare your child for our test which is on Tuesday, May 14.

MATH – We are completing Chapter 9 in Math, “Identifying and Describing Two-Dimensional Shapes.” A study sheet and math pages will be sent home on Wednesday, to help you prepare your child for our test on Friday, May 10.

RELIGION – The class is discussing the ways Jesus cares for us and how we can care for others.

HANDWRITING – We were unable to practice “J-j” last week, so we will complete that letter this week.

SOCIAL STUDIES – Our focus is on our Mothers and completing projects related to this topic.

SCIENCE – For the next few weeks we will study butterflies as we observe and discuss the growth and changes of our caterpillars.
