READING – Our essential question is, ” How do tools help us do things with our hands?” To help us answer the question we will read, The Little Red Hen, The Handiest Things in the World, and Stone Soup. Lesson 5 is a review of Lessons 1-4. We will be reviewing, identifying rhyming words, words that begin with the “m” or “s” sound, recognizing letters A-a to Z-z, and recognizing the high frequency words, I, and, like, and the. In addition we will read the stories, “Ss,” and “I Like Ss,” in our Readers. The class will also continue to identify nouns, action verbs, synonyms, and antonyms. We will have our first Reading test on Tuesday, November 6.

MATH – The class will learn to model, count, and write numbers 6, 7, and 8. We will also use counters to discover the number pairs that make 6, 7, and 8.

RELIGION – Our Bible story is, “Isaac is born.”

SCIENCE – The students will recall the steps in the growth of a pumpkin and draw them.

HANDWRITING – The students will practice open and closed circles.
