Welcome to Mrs. Flomer’s class notes!
Here’s a look at what we will be doing this week!

Spelling- The words for this week are: am, at, sat, man, dad, mat. The children will write their spelling words 3x each for homework, and they should be handed in by Wednesday. We will do the first 2 words together in class to show the children how to write in their “S” books. (The first grade lined notebooks have not been delivered to the school store as of Monday, so the children will not have “S” books until the end of the week) There will be a Spelling test on Friday. The high frequency words (in the “R” book) are: and, you, be, play, help, with. They are going to be the challenge words on the test as extra credit for now.

Phonics- We will focus on the sounds of n, d, p and f.

Language Arts- Nouns

Reading: We will read the story What is a Pal this week. The children will bring home their reading books every Wednesday to read the story again at home. The books should be returned to school on Friday (test day). There will be a reading workbook coming home each night that will reinforce the concepts taught in class (that will be on Friday’s tests). The page(s) will be circled that the children need to complete. They may not always be in order. There will be Reading tests on Friday. The tests will be: comprehension (of this week’s story), phonics (short a words), and vocabulary (“R” book words). They should also be able to identify a noun in a sentence.

There will be a Math test on Chapter 1, next Tuesday, 9/26

Religion- Read and discuss the stories of “The Great Flood” and “God’s Promise to Abram”.
