Mrs. Flomer’s notes for the week of May 20th

Spelling-. The list of words for Lesson 27 is: hard, harder, hardest, fast, faster, fastest, slow, slower, slowest, sooner, always, different, once, happy. The test on these words will be this Thursday (no school on Friday due to the holiday weekend).

Phonics- words with –er and –est
The students will have to know when to use the –er ending (if comparing 2 things) and –est ending (comparing more than 2 things). They must remember the rule of changing a y at the end of a word to an i before adding –er or –est.

Language Arts- types of sentences

Reading: The story this week is: What Can You Do? We will be spending this week and next week on this lesson, due to the short weeks and the rehearsals for our Spring Musical. The reading tests will be given next Wednesday, 5/29. The spelling test will still be given this week on Thursday (so the students don’t forget the words over the 4 day weekend).

Math- We are on the last chapter: 2-D Geometry

Science- The children have been studying about plants, and will be bringing home sunflower plants this week that they grew from seeds.

Social Studies- Book 5: Our Government

The children have been working hard practicing for the Spring Musical! The show is this Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. Please bring your child to the classroom by 6:45. I will not be giving homework on Tuesday.

The children may keep a water bottle in class since the warmer weather is finally here!
