I would like to start my notes by saying what wonderful surprises we received last week from our amazing students and their parents for Teacher Appreciation Week! Mrs. Pugliese and I are so very grateful to all of you. Thank you!!

Spelling- The words for this week are: mix, mixed, hop, hopped, hope, hoping, run, running, use, used, above, even, surprised, teacher. There will be a spelling test on this week’s words on Friday. Sentences are due by Thursday.

Phonics -ed and -ing endings; long e spelling patterns- y,ie
The children will learn when to double the consonant in a word to add -ed or –ing, and also when to drop the “e” at the end of a word to add -ed or -ing.

Language Arts- exclamations

Reading: We will read the story The Dot this week. The children should read it again at home. The Reading tests will be given on Friday.

Math- chapter 11- geometry
This is a short chapter, so we will be having a test on chapter 11 on Thursday.

Social Studies- Book 5- Our Government

Weekly Reader- Hippos
