Another holiday season is upon us!  We are getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving together and to thank God for our many blessings.  This week we will focus on the historical first Thanksgiving.  We will read many stories about the first Thanksgiving and then compare / contrast it with our own contemporary celebrations.  We will also explore some of the elements of Native American culture.  Music and movement will include, “The Turkey Dance”, “The Pow Wow Song”, “Ten Little Turkeys” and  “Thank You God”.  We will discuss the importance of corn to the Native Americans and pilgrims and make and enjoy corn bread.  We will also shake cream into butter to spread on our cornbread.  Art will include creating fall colors weaving placemats, colored pasta necklaces and simple balloon drums.  Tuesday and Wednesday, we will visit the chapel.  Mrs. Leake, our principal, will be leading us in prayer.
Monday, at some point during the day, there will be a lock down drill.  This will be our first lock down drill this school year.  We will explain briefly, and simply, why and what the lock down is all about with the class.  They may have questions or talk about it after school.
