I cannot believe that this week starts October when it still feels like summer outside! Hopefully we’ll be getting some cooler weather soon and it will start to feel like fall!

Our language arts topic for this week is “Getting Along”. We will read 2 versions of the story The Little Red Hen. We will then create a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the two stories. We have been learning about authors and illustrators, and we will see how the different authors interpreted this classic folktale. Later in the week we will bake bread for snack just like the Little Red Hen does. We will also read How Many Can Play and learn the new vocabulary words “cooperate, share, and turns”.

This week begins letter Bb. We will read “BB Bunny” and learn a silly Bb song. On Friday please have your child bring in something that begins with the letter Bb. We will make a blue “B is for Bandaid” project that requires small motor skills to open and peel bandaids.

For math we will be learning the concepts “more, less, and same”, and we will be reviewing the color blue, #4, and triangle. We will also play I Spy Blue.

For Jesus time we will finish up Creation and our coloring book we are working on. We will also read the story P is for Pumpkin – God’s Harvest Alphabet. We will also learn a new prayer for snack and lunchtime for the new month.

For science we will begin exploring pumpkins. We will learn the parts of a pumpkin, and see what happens if you put dirt inside a pumpkin. Will it grow a pumpkin plant? Stay tuned to find out!

We will continue to go outside twice a day and are praying that the mulch is delivered this week so we can begin using the playground across the street!

Please remember to send in permission slips for our pumpkin farm trip if you have not already done so.

Pizza envelopes go home every Monday and are due back by Thursday morning the latest.

Save the date for parent night Tuesday October 11 at 7pm.

Have a blessed week!
