Welcome to the third week of pre-k! The children have settled in nicely over the last 2 weeks and are getting familiar with routines and rules for the classroom. We continue to work on manners, “please” and “thank you”, and learning to sit quietly for a story.

This week our language arts theme is “Learning Together”. Some books we will read include Pledge of Allegiance, My Friends, and Mouse’s First Day of School. Our new vocabulary words will be “learn, partners, and together”. This week we will also begin learning the alphabet with the letter Aa. We will read the story “Apple Auntie” and sing a silly Aa song.

For math this week we will learn the terms “shorter, longer, and taller”. We will compare items in the classroom to practice our new concepts. We will also be reviewing green, rectangle, and #3. We will play I Spy Green.

Our science lessons this week will continue exploring apples as we check to see if our apple seeds are growing or if our apple slice is decomposing. We will also revisit “sink and float” and our sensory table will be filled with water so we can experiment with what types of objects sink and which ones float.

We will continue learning about Creation during Jesus time. We will focus on days 4-6 of Creation and we will be creating a coloring book reminding us what God created each day. We will visit Chapel for the first time this week on Wednesday.

Our classroom art projects this week will include making a green A alligator, and painting pinecones to look like apples to hang from our classroom tree.

Reminders:

Our pumpkin farm trip is Friday October 11. Please send in your permission slips and entrance fee if you haven’t already done so.

Pizza envelopes are due by Thursday the absolute latest. If your child is buying pizza, please remember to send in a snack and drink that day.

Homework packets are sent home on Monday each week. Please have your child do ONE page each night and return the packet the following Monday.

Have a blessed week!
