Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! Monday, March 2nd, in addition to being Dr. Seuss’s birthday, is the beginning of Read Across America week, an initative that encourages children to read more books and gets them excited about reading.  We will be reading a few books by Dr. Seuss as well as continuing with our planned readings for the week.  I would love to have a few parents come in to read to the children this week.  If anyone would like to come in to read thier favorite Dr. Seuss book to the class, please see the sign-up sheet by the class door.

This week is the last in our unit on “Imagine It, Make It”. The children will learn how imagination and creativity shape our world. They will center around the idea of enjoying art that other people create. We will read Two Loud Lily, White Rabbit’s Color Book, and we will reread Dots! Dots! Dots! At the Museum. Our new vocabulary words are appreciate, art, artist, dance, and music.  We will review last week’s sight words and add big, blue and can.Sight Words notebook will come home this week and I’m sure your little ones will love reading the words to you.  Our letter this week is “T”.  We will lean a “T” song and make a “T” project.  Children are encouraged to bring in an item from home that starts with the letter “T” for show and tell on Friday, March 6th.

For math, our number this week is 17.  We will be reviewing shapes and different sizes.  In reviewing the concept of bigger and smaller, we will learn the area and capacity of shapes.  During Jesus time we will talk about how children praise Jesus. In preparation for Daylight Savings Time (March 8, 2020), we will welcome in March by leaning the saying, “March comes in like a lion, out like a lamb” and what that means about weather and the changing of seasons.

We will have a visitior on Monday – the dentist from Kiddsmiles Syosset. We will also start practicing for our spring Rodeo show this week.  Mondays we have computers, Tuesdays we have art and library (please return library books in order to borrow a new one) and on Wednesday we have gym.

I’d like to leave you with a quote from Dr. Seuss to share with your little one, “You can find magic wherever you look.Sit back and relax, all you need is a book.”

Have a blessed week!
