This is the fourth week of our animal unit and this week’s topic will be “Animals Grow and Change”. We will read Over in the Meadow, Dora’s Eggs, and we will read along with Animal Babies on the Smart Board. Our new vocabulary will be: adult, baby, change, and grow. I am hoping to also schedule a visit to the Critter Room this week to see some live animals in person.

For math we will be learning sequencing this week. We will learn the concepts: before, during, and after. We will also work with number 13 this week as well.

For Jesus time we will be celebrating Lutheran Schools Week this week. We will have the opportunity to have chapel as a whole school on Wednesday. We will have lessons each day on the words: joyfully, peacefully, thankfully, hopefully, and faithfully.

On Monday we will celebrate Chinese New Year with homemade dumplings being sent in by Vincent’s mom. The children will also bring home a red keychain, also thanks for Vincent’s mom. We will read some books and learn a little more about this Asian tradition.

On Friday we will learn about shadows as we talk about Groundhog Day which is Sunday February 2nd. We will create shadow silhouettes to hang in the hallway as well.

Our art projects this week will include P is for Pig and a snowman we will create by using many different objects after we read the story Snowballs by Lois Ehlert.

Have a blessed week!
