Welcome to a very short week of school. Monday school is closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We learn a little about him on Friday with our Weekly Reader, and 2 short videos. We will speak some more about his important message on Tuesday. Our new vocabulary will be: bug, insect, stinger, stings, and wings.

This week is week 3 of our Awesome Animals unit with the topic Creepy, Crawly Insects. We will have an introduction to insects this week, and in the Spring we will examine bugs more in depth. We will read the books Bugs! Bugs! Bugs!, Over in the Meadow, and What Do Insects Do?

Our letter this week is the letter O. We will read “Oh Oh Octopus” and learn an O song. We will make an O is for Octopus project and a Snowy Owl. Please bring in O items to share on Thursday this week.

For math this week we will learn about groups. Our new math words will be column, grid, and row.

For Jesus time we will continue learning about Jesus as a little boy and we will visit chapel on Wednesday.

In science we will continue to discuss migration and hibernation. We will read the books Over and Under Snow, and When Snow Falls, both about what different animals do in the winter. We will also look at a science poster about how animals grow.

I will see everyone either Thursday evening or Friday for parent/teacher conferences. If you have not signed up, please do so. It is imperative that I speak with all parents regarding their child’s progress.

Have a blessed week!
