Happy Valentine’s Week! We have a lot of fun activities planned this week to celebrate love, family and friendship.  We are making chocolate covered pretzels with hearts, red fruit jello, and a few surprises leading up to our Valentine’s Day ice-cream party on Friday, February 14, 2020.  The 14th is also ECC Red Day so please dress your child in red if feasible.  A class list was sent home on Friday.  If your child would like to give out Valentine’s Day cards, please send them in by Wednesday the 11th.

Please note Friday is the last day before Winter Recess.  School will be closed Monday, February 17, 2020 – Friday, February 21, 2020.  Classes will resume on Monday, February 24, 2020.

This week we will continue our unit on “Imagine It, Make It”. Children will learn how we can use tools to create and build. We will read Science Tools, The Shape of Things, and Harold and the Purple Crayon. We will use a purple crayon to go on our own adventure. Our new vocabulary words are build, structure and tools. We will go on a treasure hunt around our room and find tools that help us in our everyday lives.

Our letter this week is R.  We will lean an “R” song and make an “R” project.  Children are encouraged to bring in an item from home that starts with the letter R for show and tell on Friday, February 14th.

For math we will focus on patterns.  We will learn the vocabulary words next, pattern and repeats. The children will identify shapes and patterns through a fun game that will teach them to describe shapes and patterns to their friends. Our number for this week is 15.

For Jesus time we will learn that as Jesus grew up, He had many friends and He chose 12 people to be His special friends and helpers.  This week we will talk about friendship and love.  We will talk about how God gives us friends and puts love in our hearts for our friends.  The message this week will be that we love each other because Jesus first loved us.

During Social Studies we will talk about our Presidents, Abraham Lincoln and President’s Day, which is February 17th. We will also start our topic on community workers with this week’s focus on the Post Office and Mailman. For science, will be little scientists and use tools to discover new things.

On Tuesday we will visit the library.  Please remember to return any library books that have been borrowed in order to borrow another book.

Have a blessed week!
