There is no school on Friday, March 13, 2020 due to Professional Development for the staff.  There is no pizza this week.

I will be sending home “My Sight Words” notebooks on Monday to be returned to school the following Monday (similar to how homework works).  The students are doing amazing recognizing sight words and reading them during our morning messages and throughout the day and I’d like to continue that at home.  The front of the notebook has instructions for nightly tasks for the week.  Each week, I will send home the three sight words we learned the week before.  Please have your child do each night’s task nightly.

We are starting a new unit this week – Growing up Healthy.  This week focuses on “My Senses”.  Students will learn how the five senses help them explore the world.  They will learn about their bodies and how to take care of themselves.  The social-emotional focus this week is on self-awareness.  We will read Look, Listen and LearnMy Five Senses, and Good Food. The will learn the following vocabulary words: hear, see, senses, sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. We will continue to review letters A-T and we will start working on the letter U this week.  The students love brainstorming words that begin with the letter of the week so definitely help your little ones come up with some “U” words.

For math, we will review the numbers 1-17 and work on the number 18 this week.  We will be reviewing shapes and different sizes.  In reviewing the concept of bigger and smaller, we will continue to learn about shapes, area and capacity and I will introduce comparing shapes and creating different shapes.  During Jesus time we will continue to talk about lent and we will talk about how Jesus heals a blind man. We will review what happened this weekend with the changing of the clocks and talk about the arrival of spring in a couple of weeks.

This week we will also continue practicing for our spring Rodeo show.  Mondays we have computers, Tuesdays we have art and library (please return library books in order to borrow a new one) and on Wednesday we have gym.  March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day and March 19th is the First Day of Spring.  I have a sign-up sheet on the wall outside our door if anyone is interesting in bringing items for our themed snack on those days.  Thank you in advance.

Have a blessed week.
