This Week in Art:

ECC Classes — To go along with the story of Johnny Appleseed the preschool classes will enjoy creating a tissue paper apple tree collage.

Kindergarten —  The class will continue learning how to draw by simply using Lines and Shapes. The students will practice how to draw a person by using simple geometric shapes — NO MORE STICK FIGURES 🙂  The class will add houses, trees and even some pumpkins to create a fall scene.

Gr. 1 — Our First Grade class will continue their Mixed-Media Collage this week. They are learning how to create texture by using line families,  repeated shapes and various craft materials in their Hot Air Balloon Collages.

Gr. 2 — The Second Graders will learn about the abstract art style of folk artist Heather Galler.  They will learn how to create a landscape using bold patterns with various types of lines and bright colors.  Heather Galler enjoys using all types of geometric and organic shapes in her inspiring,  fun and whimsical style of art.

Gr. 3 — This class will enjoy a lesson on the french artist H. Matisse.  The lesson will focus on Matisse’s paper cut out collages and murals that he created near the end of his life.

Gr 4 & 5 — These two classes will be working on their 3 dimensional mask creations (construction paper collages).  Students in these two classes were shown the fascinating, miniature sculptures made from Covid19 ppe materials created by Japanese artist T. Tanaka. The students will be twisting, folding, rolling, cutting and creating a 3D scene using only construction paper, pencil, scissors and tape.

Middle School — Grades 6-8 will be finishing up their Drawing Journals and starting their own 3D construction paper collages as well.
