This Week in Art

Welcome all ECC classes  — we will have an introduction to the art room experience and then the classes will learn about the French artist Monet and his style of painting.

Kindergarten — will finish drawing an Autumn activity and start coloring their creations

Gr. 1 — has been doing a fantastic job coloring all those scales on their Rainbow Fish.  Now it’s time to watercolor and fill in that special scale with glitter!

Gr. 2 — will finish coloring their Fall scenes and take turns at the sponge paint station to sponge paint their fall leaves

Gr. 3 — students will complete the coloring on their favorite family activity drawings and will design a quilt pattern around the perimeter of their drawings (just like the artist Faith Ringgold in her collection of storybooks).

Gr. 4 — is still working hard at overlapping construction paper cutouts to complete their landscape pictures.  They will then add details with crayons.

Gr. 5 — is enjoying the design process of making Candy Corn Characters (assorted assemblage collage)

Gr. 6 — all art contracts were due this week.  This week we start sketching our Falling for Foreshortening figures.  We will enlarge body parts that are in the foreground to show perspective.

Gr. 7 — our tissue paper collages are coming along nicely as we use the technique of layering tissue to create new colors and depth perception.

Gr. 8 — this week we will complete the work on our Zentangle Initial designs.

Art Elective — this fabulous class of young, creative ladies will start taping up the front, back and sides of their three-dimensional letters.  We will then apply a paper mache layer to smooth out the surfaces.

Keep creating and enjoy your week!
