It was night to see the 4th grade families on our Zoom Back to School Night conference last week.  Sorry I talked for so long!  Together, we are going to make this school year a great experience for all of the children, and it was so nice to hear your words of support.  REMOTE LEARNERS: Please do not use any cell phones or other devices during the school day unless instructed by the teacher; remember to be on time for school in the morning and when returning from break times.  IN PERSON LEARNERS: Please bring earbuds/headphones to school beginning Monday, 9/28 for listening activities on Chromebooks; masks must cover your nose and mouth.

WEEK: September 28 – October 2

SPELLING/VOCABULARY:  celebrity, counsel, demonstrate, drowsy, essential, hardship, haul, humble, pledge, sincere, stampede, suitable (this week is Vocabulary so the focus will be on the meanings of each word).

READING:  “Because of Winn Dixie”; Journey’s “My Librarian is a Camel”; VOCABULARY: access, remote, isolated, impassable, obtain, extremes, virtual, avid, devour, preserve

GRAMMAR: quotation marks

WRITING: We will discuss the purposes of writing

MATH: Review for test on Chapter 1

SOCIAL STUDIES: Review for test on Chapter 1

SCIENCE: Human Machine Unit “Structure and Function of Eyes”; “How Does Your Brain Control Your Body?”

RELIGION:  Bible verse; Max Lucado, “You Were Made to Make A Difference”

TESTS THIS WEEK:

  • Wednesday – Math, Chapter 1
  • Friday – Reading, Grammar, Spelling, Social Studies Chapter 1

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • Math Extra Help will be offered during class for all students on Monday and Tuesday beginning at 8:45 am.
  • Students should be studying for 3-4 nights this week for the Social Studies test.
  • Families are welcome to log into Wednesday Chapel services.  Link will be shared on Google Classroom.
