We have a short week of school so we won’t be following some of our usual routines of academics.  NO SCHOOL Monday in honor of Veteran’s Day AND Thursday for Parent -Teacher conferences.  Special thanks to the veterans who have bravely served our country!

A NOTE ABOUT CONFERENCES:  The time slots are 10 minutes, which never seems like enough time to talk about your child.  I try to be respectful of that, while at the same time sticking to the scheduled appointments.  I ask that parents give the same consideration.  If for some reason you can’t make our scheduled meeting time, please call the school office and ask them to give me the message.  I will review the Parent Questionnaires so that we can cover important points during our meetings.

WEEK: November 11-15

SPELLING:  We are going to have a Spelling Bee on Friday so students can look over the list from each week since school started to be prepared

READING:  This week we will begin the novel, The Last Holiday Concert by Andrew Clements.  There will be chapter question sets and activities with this book as we read it.

GRAMMAR: review grammar topics from the beginning of the year

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • This month we are focusing on gratitude.  The students are designing an activity to share with the first grade class to help them understand what it means to be thankful.  We are getting together with them on Friday.
  • Extra Effort Opportunities are underway.  Please let me know if you have any questions about the projects.
