Week 25

“”Learning is not obtained by chance.” – Abigail Adams

Monday is Read Across America day! Our class will be visiting the book fair at 10:00. I sent a note home on Friday with the following details.

  • Students should dress as their favorite book characters.
  • Students need to read a passage aloud from their book.
  • Students should bring a stuffed animal/cozy pillow.
  • Students should bring money for the book fair

I have also sent a note home regarding https://play.prodigygame.com/ This is a website we will be using in school as well as XtraMath to help review Math concepts. I encourage your child to try it at home. Also, I have stapled their username and password into the front of their assignment pad. This is my first time using this product, and so far, the children seem engaged.

The children did a wonderful job with their country reports. Everyone in the class completed one. They were filled with information. Also, we enjoyed pasta from Italy, cookies from Jamaica, cheese puffs from Haiti, red envelopes with money from China, and flags from South Africa. Some of the students presented information about their favorite country to the school during our monthly assembly. I am so proud of their work.

Math

We are continuing our work with fractions this week. We will be relating fractions and whole numbers and fractions of a group. We have learned about numerators, denominators, and unit fractions. These are terms that will be used throughout our math unit. Our chapter test will be next week.

ELA

We are still working with our story from last week.
