Week 30

The price of greatness is responsibility.–Winston Churchill

Career Day is on Tuesday, April 9th. Children will have an opportunity to visit with individuals from various careers. It should be an interesting event.

A notice went home last week collecting $10 for our WINGO basket. If you have not done so, please hand in the money ASAP.

“Stuffed” animal reports and self-assessments are due on Monday, April 15th. If you have misplaced the paper, I have attached a copy here

Math

We are working on measurements. Students are measuring time, length, volume, and mass.  We will be having our Chapter 10 test on Tuesday, April 16th.

ELA

We are finishing up Love that Dog by Sharon Creech, and then we will read Hate that Cat by Sharon Creech.  We are also creating poetry books using these two mentor texts. We will return to our Journeys textbook after Easter Break.

Science

We are studying how scientists track animals using GPS devices.  We are focusing on the life cycle of animals using a timeline. Don’t forget “Stuffed” animal project is due on Monday, April 15th.

Social Studies

We are learning about the geography of South Africa. We will have an open book test on Friday. I will be giving the student the specific pages where the information is located. We will also be learning about Kruger National Park, and we will be watching the “Battle at Kruger” that shows animals working together in order to survive.  I have included the link here, if you are interested in watching it.  As always, I do not suggest students exploring online video without adult supervision.

Religion

Our religion memory this week is Hebrews 13.5.  Be content with what you have, for He has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13.5

I have also included the link here for Third Grade Memory Work and due dates.
