This Week in Art

ECC — Preschool classes will enjoy making a Rodeo Pony Puppet out of construction paper and assorted assemblage.

Kindergarten — this week we will finish watercolor painting our crosses for Lent.

Gr. 1 — students will use assorted assemblage materials to make a Spring Bird’s Nest Mixed Media Collage.

Gr. 2 — this class will start an Under the Sea Watercolor inspired by the book Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle.

Gr. 3 — students will be taking a tour of the beautiful stained glass windows adorning our church.  The tour will culminate with the students drawing their own stained glass designs.

Gr. 4 — Fourth graders will enjoy an art history lesson on artist Michelangelo.  Students will make a drawing and paint a “faux fresco” using watercolors.

Gr. 5 — This class will continue working on their stained glass cellophane windows for the next few weeks.

Gr. 6 — Grade Six students will receive a lesson on how artists use Positive/Negative Design in their work.  They will create a positive/negative drawing using contrasting colored crayons and positive/negative spaces in the design process.

Gr. 7 — Final Class for Weaving — Hooray!!!!  Can’t wait to show off their completed Mug Rugs!

Gr. 8 — Eighth graders will learn about the artwork of Georgia O’Keefe and start work on a large scale chalk pastel drawing of a flower.

Art Elective — will watch a video on the Kinetic Mobile Sculptures of Alexander Calder and finish up their Tile Paintings.
