Math 6

This week we are beginning a new chapter on Expressions.  We will be exploring exponents and order of operations (PEMDAS).  Students will be practicing this skill by participating in a “Who wants to be a Millionaire?” game.  We will have a quiz on these topics on Friday, 3/6.    Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Math 7

This week we are starting a new chapter on 3-D geometry.  We will be exploring surface area, cross sections, and volume of figures.There will be a quiz on surface area on Friday, 3/6.  Extra help is on Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Pre-Algebra

We are continuing with  2-D geometry.  This week our focus will be on dilations, symmetry, rotational symmetry, congruence, and similarity of shapes.   We will have a quiz on the above mentioned topics on Friday, 3/6.  Students are also working on a symmetry project in class.  We will be having a quiz on dilations and symmetry on Friday, 3/6.    Extra help is Mondays at 7:30 AM.

Algebra

This week we are finishing up chapter 8.  This chapter covered adding, subtracting, multiplying and factoring polynomials.  We will also explored how use the box method, distributing, and the FOIL method to multiply binomials.  Also, we learned to factor different types of quadratics.  The unit test on this chapter will be on Friday, 3/6. Extra help is by appointment.
