This Week in Art

Kindergarten  — This week we’re thinking SNOW by creating a Torn Paper Snowman Collage.

Gr. 1 — Grade One will learn how to draw snow people having fun in the snow. This project correlates with Carolyn Buchner’s book entitled Snowmen at Night.  Always a FUN drawing.

Gr. 2 — What do Winter Trees look like in the eyes of an artist? We’ll find out as our Second graders learn an art lesson in perspective with this WINTERY project.

Gr. 3 — This week we will finish our Christmas Ornament Watercolor project. It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas!

Gr. 4 — Our Cool/Warm Colored Angels project in the abstract, Cubism style looks wonderful!  Some of us are still coloring and then the artwork will adorn our school’s hallways.

Gr. 5 — The Fifth Grade is literally pounding nails …in the art room!  Yes we are really puncturing a pie tin cut out as an angel and pushing the nails through a pre-drawn pattern.  Once we assemble our angels onto their stands, with the help of a battery-operated candle, light will illuminate through the holes revealing a beautiful design!

Gr. 6 — This class will be drawing a portrait of another student in the class.

Gr. 7 — Seventh graders have started their Split-Face Self-Portraits and will be using small mirrors to catch every detail of the Reality side of their portrait.  The other half of the portrait will reveal their personality by having symbols replace facial features.

Gr. 8 — This class is enjoying the Fingerprint Frenzy lesson.  They are using their fingerprints to make a cartoon strip or realistic scene.

Art Elective — The Trimester II class will be making Christmas ornaments out of assorted assemblage materials.

Keep creating and enjoy your week!
