This Week in Art

ECC Classes — We learned about the artist W. Kandinsky and his Expressionist style of painting.  This week we will stamp circles of paint to replicate Mr. Kandinsky’s Concentric Circles painting.

Kindergarten — Our class will make a Leaf People Collage using real leaves! This will be good practice for drawing bodies as we transform simple leaves into actual Leaf People!

Gr. 1 — Gr. One students will be learning about the element of space as they illustrate the poppy field from the story/movie The Wizard of Oz.  Then we will draw our favorite character from the movie on the field to complete the scene!

Gr. 2 — It’s all about Monet’s lily pond and bridge this week as we continue to draw and use craypas to add color, shading and highlights to our pictures.

Gr. 3 — The Third Grade is learning how to draw a vase with flowers using the art elements of space, shape and value in their compositions.  Then we will add color, highlights and shading using oil pastels.

Gr. 4 — Fourth Graders will start coloring their “delicious paintings” this week using the realistic style and techniques from artist W. Thiebaud.

Gr. 5 — The fun begins this week as we watercolor our faux batik leaves now that the glue has dried.

Gr. 6 — This is our last day to complete our “Falling” pictures that we have worked so hard on.

Gr. 7 — This week we will add black tempera with fine bristled brushes to complete our Sunset Silhouette paintings.

Gr. 8 — The Eighth Grade needed one more class this week to complete their “Phobia” drawings.

Art Elective — The construct stage of our 3-D Initials has been completed and the girls will add paper mache for the next coating.

Keep Creating and Enjoy Your Week!
