This Week in Art

ECC Classes will view artwork and painting style of Impressionist artist G. Seurat.  They will then try their hands at pointillism using Qtips and watercolors to fill in a beautiful flower picture.

Kindergarten will work on drawing and coloring their Time of Day pictures.  They will choose to draw a Sunrise/daytime, sunset, or nighttime scene.

Gr. 1 — these students will learn about the painting style of American artist W. Homer.  They will draw and watercolor paint a picture where they can leave some areas white.  This is not an easy task to do when you are watercoloring.

Gr.  2 — Second graders are finishing up their Winter Tree Collage picture and need to add snow and final details to this creative project.

Gr. 3 — The Third grade class will be adding paint for shading and details such as the moon and snow to their Winter Birch Tree Snow pictures.

Gr. 4 — This class is learning about correct proportions in figure drawing, especially the difference between the child and adult figures.  This week a few of us will model and pose while the rest of us will use what we’ve learned to sketch our models.

Gr. 5 — The next two weeks the Fifth grade class gets to stretch their creative imaginations with this Creative Creature drawing project.  From a packet of drawings of various land and sea animal body parts the class will create their own creature comprised of a different combinations of these animal parts.  The students will then decide what kind of habitat their newly drawn creature will exist in as they sketch and color in the background.

Gr. 6 — After building our pyramid last week we will get to add assorted assemblage materials to create our very own Pyrapet Creature.  Will there be crocodiles, giraffes, cats, sheep and rabbits?  Only time will tell what this year’s class will create.

Gr. 7 — This week we will wind up our shuttles with yarn and find a yarn color for our warp lines on our cardboard looms.  After a lesson in weaving we will actually start weaving our Mug Rugs/Yarn Coasters.  Always a favorite class project.

Gr. 8 — It’s our final class to fill in our Silhouette Magazine Collage with colorful magazine images that represent our personality (who we are, what we like etc.).

Art Elective — This week we will start adding the details to our tiles with acrylic paint.  Some of us have chosen to paint a landscape, some have chosen a sports logo and others have started to paint a abstract design.

Keep Creating and Enjoy Your Week!
