Welcome to the 2017/18 school year in Trinity’s Fifth Grade classroom. I am very excited to be working with such a wonderful group of students this year. We are off to a great start. Each week this blog will give you an idea of what’s going on in our room. Of course your best source of information is your child!
Spelling: Week 1: Test Friday
ELA: Reading: Passage in Journeys: A Package for Mrs. Jewls.
Vocabulary and comprehension on test Friday.
We are reading the book FRINDLE by Andrew Clements.
There will be a comprehension quiz upon completion
Grammar: Complete sentences: on test Friday.
Writing: We will be writing a short paragraph telling
our classmates were ‘our flip flops’ took us this summer.
We will be exploring the short story and writing our own.
Due: Wed. Sept. 20th
Math: Chapter 1: Fluency with Whole Numbers and Decimals.
Quiz 9/29. Test 10/2
Religion: Verse test Wed. Galations 5;22-23
We are discussing who God is.
We read Be a Bucket Filler and are discussing
how to fill peoples buckets with positive words and
actions.
Science: We are exploring the Scientific Method and will be
baking smores in pizza box solar ovens.
S.S. : We will be exploring the first few installments of
Scholastic News.
