Math Grade 6

This week the students are continuing with our unit of ratios, rates, and proportions.   Students will explore various methods for solving proportions including equivalent t ratios and cross products.   We will be reviewing on Monday and Tuesday. There will be a unit exam on Wednesday, 2/14. The test covers modules 6 and 7. Extra help is Wednesday mornings at 7:45.

Math Grade 7

The students are beginning to explore Geometry. We have learned about various angles such as complementary, supplementary, vertical, and adjacent. We also explored finding the area and circumference of circles. This week our focus will be on finding the area of rectangles, triangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids.  There will be a quiz on finding the area of various shapes on Wednesday, 2/14.

Pre-Algebra

Students are finishing up our unit of systems of equations using graphing, substitution, and elimination.   This has led us to solving system of equations word problems. Students will also be participating in a math lab that explores these three methods.   The test will be on Tuesday, 2/13/18.

Algebra

This week students are beginning Chapter 8. This unit explores polynomials, monomials, factoring, FOIL method of multiplying binomials, and D.O.T.S (Difference of two squares). There will be a quiz on Friday, 2/16 on lessons 8.1-8.4.
