All Grades: Students should be reading the October book of their choice. Book options were handed out two weeks ago and a letter went home last week. (7th Grade will receive letter on Monday, 10-16) Book projects are due November 8th.

Grades 6 and 8: Vocabulary tests on Unit 3 in the respective vocabulary books. Much of the homework this week will be vocabulary. Grade 7 will have a spelling test on Unit 3 On Tuesday October 17. Vocabulary will be on Monday, October 23th.

Grade 6: We will transition from paragraph writing to essay writing this week. We will review adjectives as well as go over our vocabulary words.

Grade 7: Students in 7th grade will write a letter to the hosts at Koinonia. They will also review paragraph writing and later, begin writing a comparison essay. They will have a spelling test on Tuesday, October 17. However, vocabulary will test will be on Monday, October 23th. They will have vocabulary homework this week.

Grade 8: We have read and discussed Frederick Douglass and are finishing up reading about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad. They will answer reflection questions on the two American heroes. Later in the week the students will read poems about Lincoln’s death “Oh Captain” and “Harriet Beecher Stowe”. Students will edit their “Outsiders” rough drafts for a final copy: Due by Thursday.
