JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KNOW!

What a wonderful Valentine our heavenly Father gives us in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

Valentines Day – we made our very own personalized Valentine for our families and our hand-made mailbags will collect the Valentines given to us.  In Chapel we learned about the shape of God’s love.

Social Studies – the letter carrier explained how our Valentines would go from school to our homes.  Through the courtesy of USPS we viewed the video, “The Post Office” and then off we went to the mailbox on the corner to mail our Valentines.

Science – As we chugged along on our Food Train we are now up to the Vegetable car, learning about the colors of veggies and how they grow.  We made Vegetable soup with Mr. Breuer, Ashley’s grandpa.  It was great on a cold day.

During center time, we had the opportunity to design and make a “Sweet-heart’ house with all the delicious Valentine candy.

Letters and Sounds – Vv – for valentines, vegetables, and vitamins.  This week the Vv bucket went to Lucas Cromwell.

The stories we read this week include:

THE STORY OF ST. VALENTINE,      JOLLY POSTMAN

VALENTINE GRUMP                          NEVER MAIL AN ELEPHANT

     MINNIE’S VALENTINES                     GROWING VEGETABLE SOUP

FRANKLIN’S VALENTINES                IF WE HAD THE TEETH OF AN ANIMAL

Thank you Mrs. Bogovic for arranging for  the dentist to come and visit our classes.  A great community helper!

As we celebrated God’s love for us on Valentine’s Day we heard Jesus calling us to follow him and love one another.  Our Bible stories included:

The Call of Matthew – Mark 2:13-17

The Call of the Fishermen – Matthew 4: 18-22

For in following Jesus, God’s Love is in us and we can truly say – “Happy Valentine’s Day!”
