Math Grade 6

This week we will be finishing up with module 10. This will explore the beginnings of Algebra. We discussed variables, coefficients, and constants and explored how translate words into an algebraic expression. We have also learned how to evaluate an expression when the value of the variable is given., distributing, factoring, and combining like terms.   There will be a unit test on Thursday, 5/10. Extra help is Wednesday mornings at 7:30.

Math Grade 7

The students are beginning their last unit on Probability. We will explore the differences between experimental and theoretical probability, sampling involving word problems, and probability of compound and simple events. There will be a quiz on Thursday, 5/10 on experimental and theoretical probability.   Extra help is Wednesday morning at 7:30.

Pre-Algebra

This week we are starting our last unit on 3-dimensional geometry. We will be exploring how to calculate the volume of prisms, cylinders, cones, pyramids, and spheres.  There will be a quiz on Wednesday, 5/9.   Extra help is Wednesday mornings at 7:30.

Algebra

This week we are starting a short unit on Statistics. We have already learned about these topics last year. We will be reviewing how to construct histograms, frequency tables, box and whisker plots, and dot plots. We will also review measures of center and measures of variation. There will be a test on this unit on Friday, 5/11.
